One of my pet peeves as a parent is letting my kids scroll unsupervised through streaming services. I don’t want them watching garbage, but I also don’t love the idea of them scrolling past thumbnails and recommendations for all the garbage that’s out there.
A post on X sums up one of the challenges Christian parents face when it comes to entertainment choices for their kids:
I just watched an episode of The Baby Sitters club with my daughters. Through a cute and compelling thirty-minute story, it normalizes witchcraft, promotes astrology, and celebrates a toddler transitioning genders (and being medically treated as such). Wow.
Wow indeed.
To help parents make positive entertainment choices that will teach biblical values and not make them dumber, I’ve compiled the list of some of the best Christian shows for kids that my family (with 4 and 7 year olds) has enjoyed.
10 Great Christian Shows for Kids (and Where to Watch Them)
Superbook
Superbook is an animated Christian series from CBN that follows Chris, Joy, and their robot Gizmo as they travel back in time to experience Bible stories firsthand. Each episode helps children understand Scripture and apply biblical lessons to everyday life in an engaging, adventure-filled format. I remember watching the old, 1980’s version as a kid, and I like showing my girls the new CGI version. (Note: GizmoGo is spinoff show for pre-schoolers.)

Theo Presents
Theo Presents centers on Theo, an elderly Christian who gently walks kids (and two cartoon mice) through deep truths like faith, forgiveness, and God’s grace in simple, warm explanations. Created by former Disney animator Mike Joens, it has solid animation quality and surprising theological depth wrapped in a cozy package with two goofy mice. (My favorite Theo Presents story is from a scene where Theo, the grandfatherly character, was reading his Bible with a cup of coffee while the two mice peeked out of their mouse hole to watch him. One of my girls said, “That’s my sister and me looking at you in the mornings!”)

What’s In the Bible?
What’s in the Bible?, created by Phil Vischer (one of the VeggieTales guys), mixes puppets, humor, and tons of biblical teaching to help kids grasp the big story of Scripture and why it matters. The tone is evangelical and super educational without feeling heavy, and honestly parents learn just as much as the kids.

The Dead Sea Squirrels
The other VeggieTales guy, Mike Nawrocki—who you probably know better as the voice of Larry the Cucumber—wrote a series of books called The Dead Sea Squirrels, which has now been turned into an animated show. The story follows a 10-year-old boy named Michael who discovers two ancient squirrels in a cave while visiting his dad’s archaeological dig near the Dead Sea.
Our family loved this show. The writing is top-notch and had both the kids and adults laughing out loud. The biblical lessons are relatable, and I especially appreciate that each episode includes an original song, often featuring Christian artists like Matthew West, Mac Powell, Ellie Holcomb, and others. (Here’s a good starter song.)
Torchlighters
Torchlighters is fantastic for kids who love hero stories, because each episode tells the animated biography of a real Christian hero like Corrie ten Boom, Jim Elliot, or William Tyndale. It’s very faith-forward, focusing on courage, perseverance, and sharing the gospel even in hard or dangerous situations. Produced by Christian History Institute, it’s historically grounded and sparks great conversations about living boldly for Jesus. (Parents may want to preview since some episodes include persecution.)
Owlgories
Owlegories features little owls go on adventures to learn about God through creation, using analogies that connect nature to biblical truth in a way young kids can really grasp. It’s Christ-centered, simple, and super accessible, with short episodes that keep little attention spans happy. A fun bonus is that each episode ends with a real Christian leader giving a short devotional to tie everything together.

Iggy and Mr. Kirk
Iggy and Mr. Kirk is a sweet, simple series that follows an Iguana puppet named Iggy as he talks with his wise mentor, Mr. Kirk (Kirk Cameron), about faith, choices, and how to handle everyday challenges in a way that honors God. Each episode features Mr. Kirk reading a book from Brave Books that connects to Iggy’s situation. (Good product placement!) I don’t think my family has ever laughed as hard as when Iggy screamed in pain after stepping on glass.

Paws & Tales
Paws & Tales feels like Adventures in Odyssey meets talking woodland creatures, set in the town of Wildwood where cute critter characters learn about life, friendship, and biblical values. The show weaves in clear gospel themes and virtues like honesty and courage, making it both fun and meaningful. Produced by Insight for Living (Chuck Swindoll’s ministry), it has solid teaching wrapped in engaging stories kids love. The animation style is more old school, but this is still a solid option.

The Chosen Adventures is an animated Christian series that follows nine-year-old Abby and her friend Joshua as they experience life in first-century Capernaum and encounter Jesus. With humor, colorful animation, talking animal companions, and short episodes, the series introduces children to biblical themes such as faith, kindness, forgiveness, and following Jesus in an accessible way. It works especially well for elementary-age children and families looking for engaging, faith-centered entertainment.

The Wingfeather Saga
The Wingfeather Saga is an animated fantasy-adventure series based on Andrew Peterson’s popular books. It follows siblings Janner, Kalmar, and Leeli Igiby as they discover surprising truths about their family and face the evil Fangs. Filled with humor, danger, imaginative creatures, and a richly developed world, the series explores themes of courage, sacrifice, identity, family, and redemption.
