Who are the False Teachers? by Aaron Armstrong
The whole concept of false teachers and false teaching is one that makes many Christians squirm. We don’t like to think about the idea that there are people who are actively trying to deceive believers, to turn them away from the truth of the Christian faith. But all one has to do is look around at a Christian bookstore and you can see it—deception is present….
When you start to examine the nature of false teaching, it tends to consistently focus on three primary areas…
Why I’m Not a Theistic Evolutionist by J. Warner Wallace
The topic will be Genesis 1:1 and what is, in many ways, the most important verse of Scripture: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” I’ll be talking about some things we can know with certainty (related to God’s creative work in the universe and in biological organisms) and some things that we know with a bit less certainty (as I review many of the ways Christians have interpreted Genesis 1 through the ages). While I am respectful of some of the efforts to understand precisely what Moses was trying to communicate in this text, there is one view of creation that I find difficult to accept. From my perspective, theistic evolution appears to be a contradiction in terms.
Liberating Our Teens from Sexual Lies by Alex Chediak
Our teens need to have a biblical understanding of sex in order to navigate the challenges that await them in college. For starters, let’s define the term, not on an anatomical level but at a foundational level. Here’s how pastor and author Tim Keller puts it:
Sex is perhaps the most powerful God-created way to help you give your entire self to another human being. Sex is God’s appointed way for two people to reciprocally say to one another, “I belong completely, permanently, and exclusively to you.”…
Of course, it’s not quite as simple as the headline makes it seem.
But new data suggests that while the often heard complaint, ”Kids these days spend all their time online rather than face-to-face,” may be true, it’s not true for the reasons we think. No, today’s under-18 crowd is not made up of degenerates who don’t like human contact. Rather, they want face-to-face time as much as we did, it’s just that their parents won’t let them have it…
Get Angry from Plain Simple Faith
Is your love of entertainment hurting your work ethic? Is it taking away from the time you can give to your family? Are you spending more time being entertained than you are communing with God and His Word? Is your entertainment causing you to miss periods of worship with the saints (cf. Heb. 10:24-26)?
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Matt. 6:33)
