Reviews allow me to discover books I haven’t heard of, they teach me to think wisely, they allow me to better prioritize the books I am considering reading, and they sometimes provide a helpful second opinion on books I have already read.

The preceding article is the perfect example of why labeling your ideological opposite a “hater” has a great impact and carries with it great potential consequences. For those who don’t know the story, the Family Research Council, who stands for traditional marriage, was labeled a “hate group” by homosexual activists. This then led a man to bring a gun to their headquarters and attempt to shoot it up (he didn’t get past security, which he shot). The ridiculous thing is, the gunman’s whole reasoning for his violence is because this group is a “hate group”. Is it OK to bully and shoot up a hate group? Doesn’t that make you a hater?
