I’ll be teaching a Men’s conference called Pray the Bible at The Orchard EFC in Barrington, IL on November 11–12. If you’re in the area (and male!), I invite you to join us for a time of teaching, fellowship, and yes, prayer! 🙂
Here’s a great testimony of a Marxist gang-leader converted to Christ DURING a terrorist attack he planned. If the story intrigues you, the book that tells his life story is amazing. (HINT: It is my top book of the year.)
ICYMI: Here are five mini book reviews of what I’ve read recently.
The Halloween Night That Changed My Life by Garrett Kell. A great story of God’s grace in salvation.
Suffering Is Our Teacher. This is a recurring theme in Scripture. Consider more benefits of affliction by reading this article by Paul Tautges. You may also enjoy this huge Facebook thread of songs that encourage us during suffering.
Two documentaries on YouTube from Dr. Michael Heiser: The Unseen Realm and Demons. Heiser’s teaching is eye-opening. I don’t agree 100% on his conclusions, but his framework for the spiritual realm is biblical. I’ll leave these links with the caveat this review left on Heiser’s books: “I would hesitate to recommend it to young believers, but those who already have a good grasp of biblical theology should be able to learn from the good and pass-over the not-so-great.”

While we’re on the topic of free courses, I just launched a course by Pastor Colin Smith called Watch Your Doctrine that is top notch—it should be a must take for every Christian. (I’ll share more about this major initiative of Open the Bible—once I have the time!)
The #1 Reason I Believe the Enneagram is Deceptive by Melissa Doughtery
How Do I Share the Gospel with Cultural Christians? By David Platt
Here is a helpful roundup of Christian eBooks that are free or on sale this month.
Here is a great Martin Luther quote I shared on Reformation Day. We can trust in God’s Word to do its thing!
(Pretty good quote for a stinking bag of maggots! 🙂 )
