Book Review: God’s Great Plan by Melissa Cutrera

Understanding the overall story of the Bible is extremely helpful in understanding and interpreting each part of the Bible’s great story. In Melissa Cutrera’s new children’s book, God’s Great Plan, she attempts to tell the big story of the Bible in a way that is compelling and helpful for children.

The book is really an illustrated poem, with rhyming pairs of phrases on each illustrated page, and runs about 27 pages long.

Overall, I think many will find God’s Great Plan useful for teaching the basics of the Christian faith. The theology is excellent, illustrations decent, and length reasonable. Parents will likely be able to have deeper discussions about foundational truths based on each part of the story.

This book provides a good (and brief) overview of the message of the Bible. For a deeper and much longer approach, look at The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones and for fun Gospel-Centered kid’s book on Jonah, look at Man on the Run! By Tim Augustyn (Buy Man on the Run at Unlocking the Bible or Amazon).
