If you haven’t seen The Chosen TV series yet, you’re missing out.

Filmmaker Dallas Jenkins (son of Jerry Jenkins) describes the series:

“The Chosen” is the first ever multi-season drama about the life of Christ. There’s been movies and mini-series, but never a binge-watchable show where you can really invest in the characters. We also focus a lot on the characters Jesus encountered, giving them and their stories fresh life and backstory.

While the entirety of The Chosen doesn’t follow Scripture word-for-word, it does an amazing job of staying faithful while being fresh. (Read more about that in Justin Taylor’s interview with Jenkins.) My wife and I really enjoyed watching The Chosen and can confidently say Jenkins and his team knocked this one out of the park. If you don’t believe me, consider that Brett McCracken shared in his review for TGC that The Chosen has a 99% average audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 9.8/10 rating on IMDB. If you don’t speak online-movie-geek, that’s really, really, really good. It’s also the top crowd-funded film project in history.

You can catch the eight-episode first season of The Chosen on VidAngel and their app, and now you can watch on YouTube. Each episode was aired as part of a Global Watch Party, so you’ll have to forward through some intro material before you get to the episodes. I can’t wait for Season Two!
