Dear heavenly Father, my heart grows anxious so easily. So often I treat You like a magic genie who will take my worries away with a snap of his fingers. I forget You are my loving Heavenly Father and have greater purposes for me.
If You knew my problems and didn’t care, You would be cold and unloving. If You cared but didn’t have the power to change me and this situation, You would be unhelpful. Thank You for being almighty God as well as my loving heavenly Father who knows me, cares for me, and works in me.
Lord, I know You want me to cast my cares upon You in prayer and to give thanks from the heart. My problem is that so often during anxiety I cannot take my eyes off myself. I meditate on what irritates me and thus add fuel to the fire of stress.
By the power of Your Holy Spirit, fill me with gratitude for all the good things You’ve done. Humble me. Fix my eyes on You in this temporary trial, and help me remember—and believe— that You have equipped me to live in holiness and peace at all times. When I feel anxious, I want to be excited because this is a time to fight in Your mighty strength.
God, Your grace is sufficient for my anxiety! You will get me through this! You can work all things, even my anxiety, for my good and Your glory. You are my strength and my shield. I praise You in advance for hearing me and delivering me from this stress.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
