I remember my first coffee date with my wife in 2012 like it was yesterday. At a large Starbucks, my wife sat across a table from me and told me about her passion for ministry to young girls. I didn’t understand it all at the time, but did admire her for her desire and determination to bear fruit for the Lord in ways He has uniquely gifted her.
Since that day eleven years ago, I’ve had a front row seat to see how God has used my wife and helped her do the hard work of building the ministry God put on her heart, Maker Girls By Design. Maker Girls By Design is an official 501c3 non-profit that ministers to at-risk girls from public schools in our community aged second grade to high school. Our mission is to teach girls emotional skills, life skills, and the love of Jesus through clubs and mentoring.
My wife ensures that the gospel is shared every club meeting as God’s Word is opened. Participants also learn to deal with anxiety in healthy ways and develop career readiness skills. Girls really love the club, and it’s common for us to hear from them or their parents how girls have changed and have a hunger for God and His Word. It’s also encouraging to see how girls who age-out of the club ask to come back because they love it so much!
In addition to continuing our existing ministry, Maker Girls By Design is on the cusp of some exciting new projects like:
- Opening a new club in a storefront location (graciously offered to us by a friend of the ministry)
- Establishing curriculum (something critical for future expansion)
- Building our team of leaders and directors for future clubs
We are also looking for prayer and financial partners who want to help us take God’s Word to the public schools. Would you consider partnering in prayer or making a tax-deductible donation? Your donation will go a long way in helping us strengthen the foundation of this ministry so we can build it out to reach more young girls with the gospel.
If you are reading this via email, reply to the email with any questions or comments or if you would like our recent prayer letter. We’d love to share more about how God is using Maker Girls By Design to impact the next generation of girls.
