Recommended Links for April 2023

Another month, another batch of fresh links for your edification.

Free Christian Books for April 2023. Featuring commentary deals and an interesting audiobook on a biblical theology of the resurrection.

Fascinating Physical Evidence of Noah’s Flood (video). Answers in Genesis has some fascinating insights that might change how you see the Bible and the world.

Choosing the Right College: A Guide for Christian Parents by Thomas Kidd. Hard to find a better or more succinct guide than this.

The Psalms Project has a new album out on Psalms 39–46! Psalm 39 is haunting.

Discovering the Gospel in Every Book of the Bible Tim Keller at his best. While he’s has lost a little credibility in my eyes speaking on certain topics, he’s still really helpful talking about the gospel and the Bible story.

Why We Follow Some Old Testament Laws but Not Others by Greg Koukl

The Five Christians You Meet in the Movies by Samuel James.

Is It Time to Quit ‘Quiet Time’? I’ll summarize Dru Johnson and Celina Durgin’s important article in my own words: We need to seek God through the Word and prayer (I would say desperately!), but we need to study Scripture the right way (by keeping context and the intention of authors in mind), not simply cherry-picking Scripture McNuggets that make us feel good. That leads to reading the Bible often, but remaining functionally illiterate as to what the Bible means. One suggestion they share is for more communal reading of long-stretches of Scripture. I’ll suggest using resource like Open the Bible Story (that’s free) to get a grasp on the big story of the Bible.

Men and Emotions by Joseph Hussung. A good article on emotions, not just for men. Joseph shared the Feelings Wheel, very interesting tool that seems helpful for helping others process their emotions. I’m going to encourage my wife to use this in her ministry to adolescent girls.

How to remove yourself from the internet by Bryan Wolfe
