Top Links for July 2022

It’s been a few months since I’ve shared a post like this. I may transition from the monthly link roundup to a whenever-I-can-get-around-to-it schedule. I’m planning on taking some time off from blogging as my wife and I welcome our second daughter into this world very soon. Please pray for a smooth delivery! And please pray in general. God hears the prayers of His children and our world desperately needs His gracious hand to work!

In the meantime, here are some great resource I’ve collected from the past couple of months.

If you’re into digital Bible commentaries, you will not want to miss this huge sale from Logos on the Best Commentaries available. There are good free books at this link.

If you’re looking for a good kingdom investment, partnering with Missioteca to get good books in the hands of Christian leaders is worth supporting.

Are You Contending for the Truth or Quarrelsome? Paul Alexander shares some wisdom.

Summary of Carl Trueman’s, The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self: Cultural Amnesia, Expressive Individualism, and the Road to Sexual Revolution. There’s also shorter version of Trueman’s book called Strange New World. I love me a good book summary of a hugely important book.

A Quick Guide to Christian Denominations by Trevin Wax. Not exactly “quick” but thorough and very helpful.

7 Encouraging Trends of Global Christianity in 2022

Why American Teens are So Sad by Derek Thompson (The Atlantic)

Here’s a powerful quote from the above article: “Social media isn’t like rat poison, which is toxic to almost everyone. It’s more like alcohol: a mildly addictive substance that can enhance social situations but can also lead to dependency and depression among a minority of users.”

Seven Principles for Cultivating Christian Posture Toward the World by Kevin DeYoung

A Two-Hour Seminar on the Conscience by Dr. Andy Naselli.

Ten Reasons to Share the Gospel by Ray Comfort. I need this reminder. Especially because of #2.

Staying Married Through the Storms of Life (video) by Jeff & Sarah Walton. I appreciate this video from my friends, the Waltons. I share part of their story in one chapter of When Prayer Is Struggle, and am thankful to have them endorse my book. Their book Together Through the Storms is a hopeful and encouraging read! Here’s my review.

Kevin

I serve with Unlocking the Bible. I blog for the glory of God, to nourish the church, and to clarify my mind. A lover of Christ first, people second, and random things like coffee, books, baseball, and road trips. I wrote When Prayer Is Struggle. Soli Deo Gloria
