Top Links for March 2021

I apologize if you’ve received more email than usual from me. I’m transitioning some content to this site and backdating it, but people who are subscribed via WordPress (instead of MailerLite) might receive a few extra emails here and there. The good news is that it is helpful content!

The organization I serve with just rebranded ourselves as WordPartners and launched new website. I’m grateful to God for leading us here and excited to see how He will continue to use the ministry.

This Month’s Recommendations

  • The documentary American Gospel: Christ Crucified. This follow-up to the first American Gospel tackles progressive/emergent Christianity. It takes a bold stand for the gospel amongst popular erroneous teaching (although it moves pretty fast and might be hard for some to process). I met a former prosperity pastor a few weeks ago who said the first American Gospel helped him leave the false prosperity movement!
  • A free Christian show for kids on YouTube: Superbook (free in Spanish too). My daughter is really enjoying this show.
  • Free eBook: John 13-21 For You by Josh Moody
  • There are so many free Logos books this month I’ll just link to this roundup. (I can’t vouch for the Anchor Bible Commentary series titles.)
  • WTSBooks has a great deal on John Piper’s new book Providence. Buy the hardcover at 50% off, get the ebook free. Or download the free PDF from DesiringGod.

Why Reformed Evangelicalism Has Splintered: Four Approaches to Race, Politics, and Gender by Kevin DeYoung. Clear and helpful as always.

I have a growing mistrust of big-tech and how they gather information. The easiest step to take in fighting that is to change your default browser to DuckDuckGo. Here’s an interesting article from the company on how they make money even though they don’t collect your data.

Praying for Politicians in Public Worship by Steve Meister. I can’t wait to see how many politicians are in heaven because of the prayers of God’s people.

Read about Ryan Higginbottom’s favorite benediction.

Sarah Mae opens up about the abortion she had over two decades ago and her journey toward Christ since then. Wow, praise God!

What’s Wrong with Cancel Culture and What Isn’t by Amy Mantravadi

Phil Thompson shares some fascinating predictions on the future of Christianity. Here’s one line that caught my attention: “I expect that by 2050, we will begin seeing Christian works translated from Chinese and Spanish into English.”

Why Gavin Ortlund is Engaging Catholicism on YouTube. Might be of interest to some theology nerds!
