Spiritual Warfare Prayer: A Prayer to Put on the Full Armor of God

The following prayer is pieced together from the concluding chapter in the book Spiritual Warfare: A Biblical and Balanced Perspective (read my review) that follows the full armor of God passage from Ephesians 6:10-20.

May God strengthen you in as you battle your spiritual enemies for His glory!

A Prayer to Put on the Full Armor of God

Lord God of hosts, secure my soul and my faith today in Thy holy Word. May Thy truth strengthen my life, and may it be expressed in integrity and uprightness. (Belt of Truth – Ephesians 6:14)

I have no righteousness of my own, but only the blood and righteousness of Jesus. O God who justifies, conform my life today into what Thou hast already declared me to be. (Breastplate of Righteousness – Ephesians 6:14)

Lord Jesus, O captain of my salvation, I stand in the good news of the gospel—my only standing place. May I advance today in the life of somebody who needs to hear. (Gospel of Peace Shoes – Ephesians 6:15)

Lord, I believe Thy Word. I take Christ by faith; He is my shield and defender. I trust all Thy promises. They are mine by faith. (Shield of Faith – Ephesians 6:16)

Salvation is of the Lord. O God of my salvation, may Thy saving work shape and color the way I see everyone and everything. When the enemy lies to me about my sin and guilt, may I be quick to pull that helmet tightly over my head and repel his lies with Thy glorious salvation. Protect my mind with the thoughts of what Thou hast done in my life, are doing, and especially will do for me on the last day. (Helmet of Salvation – Ephesians 6:17)

O Holy Spirit, help me to wield Thy Word aright. Empower me to use the treats and promises to cut down the deception of my enemies. (Sword of the Spirit – Ephesians 6:17)

Heavenly Father, may I learn more and more what it is to pray warfare prayers in the Spirit. Make me a praying, pleading, praising soldier of Christ. (Spiritual Warfare Prayer – Ephesians 6:18)

God of truth, make me hunger for Thy Word, and may I not only eagerly hear it, but may I do it and proclaim it. (Warfare Proclamation – Ephesians 6:19)
