When Prayer Is Struggle is now in Spanish! A dream come true. If you have Spanish speaking family and friends, let them know!

Here’s a really good batch of encouraging quotes from When Prayer Is Struggle in English from WTS Reads on Instagram—a great account for book recommendations!

The Benefits of Being the Old Guy by Darryl Dash. A really encouraging read for old guys or someone planning on being one.

Here’s a good conversation that will help you care for the grieving. Losing Sibling with Pastor Tom Olson on the Bumper Sticker Faith podcast. (Stay tuned for a future episode featuring yours truly.)

Marie Kondo Admits She’s Kind of Given Up on Tidying Up after Having 3 Kids. Marie Kondo wrote a book on being tidy that led to a hugely popular Netflix special. And then she had kids! If you’re a busy mom struggling to keep the house in shape, especially with young kids, let this encourage you: IT’S IMPOSSIBLE. Even the world-expert on tidiness gave up after having kids. Show yourself some grace! And remember that it’s infinitely more important to teach your kids about Jesus than stressing over artificial standards of tidiness. (Or a more biblical exhortation, be a Mary, not a Martha!)

Free eBooks from John Piper, Tim Keller, and D.A. Carson. ‘Nuff said.

If you’re wanting to help earthquake victims, Mindy Belz’s Substack has list of good aid organizations working in Turkey and Syria’s rubble.

Sunday Morning Songs for Kids: A Free TGC Playlist. Those with kids will want to listen and bookmark this!

Six Years, No Converts: Harvesting with Judson in the Hardest Fields by Jason Duesing

Here’s another video preview of my free course Pray the Bible: Stephen Lungu’s Amazing Story of Answered Prayer! (Perhaps my favorite illustration on answered prayer ever.)

What I’m Reading

A Praying Church by Paul E. Miller. I won’t share much here but leave the teaser that I’ll have much more to share later on…

Adorning the Dark: Thoughts on Community, Calling, and the Mystery of Making by Andrew Peterson. A master creator (with lower-c, he’s a musician, author, tv series producer) shares his story, struggles, and successes in creating. Well-written and encouraging for fellow creators. (Peterson wrote Is He Worthy?, one of my favorite worship songs.)

I just finished Delighting in the Law of the Lord: God’s Alternative to Legalism and Moralism by Jerram Barrs. It was wise, pastoral, and worshipful. I think I highlighted 50% of the entire book! (It’s also a bit repetitive and probably 80 pages longer than needs to be.) It will help you delight in God’s law, avoid legalism, and apply the law better. Highly recommended.

I serve with Unlocking the Bible. I blog for the glory of God, to nourish the church, and to clarify my mind. A lover of Christ first, people second, and random things like coffee, books, baseball, and road trips. I wrote When Prayer Is Struggle. Soli Deo Gloria
